I wasn’t surprised to hear that Kevin Pietersen is leaving Hampshire at the end of the season because I recall someone saying to him in South Africa when he first got into the England side that travelling from London to Southampton was a fair old journey and KP replying: “I won’t be playing much for Hampshire, I’ll be playing for England”. He was cocky and confident then and now, married with a baby, he wants somewhere close by his Chelsea home where he can practice and go home at night to his family. Read more
