Sir Alec Bedser 1918-2010

Posted on | April 6, 2010 | 1 Comment

Tribute to Sir Alec Bedser who died on Sun 4th April 2010.

His figures say he was a great bowler and I mean truly great.
I have talked to people who have played against him and on helpful pitches he was unplayable.
Apparently he bowled fast medium in-swingers and leg cutters.
A big man with big hands and a big heart. A Gentleman.
Throughout my career I have known him as an England selector, Chairman of selectors and as Tour manager of England to Australia (79/80)
It would be impossible to find anybody more helpful, kind and generous with his time and assistance.
Nothing was ever too much trouble for him – he was just a lovely man.
I am sad I never played with or against him, it would have been a wonderful experience.
